Okay so maybe there aren’t any Michelin star restaurants in Newcastle but there certainly are plenty of fine quality venues that are winning awards for their outstanding cuisine and service. Surely it’s just a matter of time before Michelin themselves begin dishing the stars out in this fantastic north-east city.
There are two major awards that have been adorned upon several restaurants within Newcastle and the surrounding area. Firstly there is the AA Rosette Award and secondly there is the Good Food Guide. Both of these work on a sliding scale so the more rosettes or the more points you get, the more highly regarded the venue is.
Independent inspectors visit each of the restaurants to sample may have to offer and after a thorough inspection the awards are given, but only if the appropriate standards are met. It certainly looks like Newcastle is hitting the standard mark.
In fact if I were to list every single restaurant that has been given these awards this post would be incredibly long. So to keep this short and readable, here’s just a few of them.
Blackfriars Restaurant – 1 AA Rosette and 3 Good Food Guide points.
Brasserie Black Door – 1 AA Rosette and 4 Good Food Guide points.
Cafe 21 – 1 AA Rosette and 4 Good Food Guide points.
Seaham Hall Hotel – 3 AA Rosettes and 5 Good Food Guide points.
As you can see the quality is outstanding, so having to any of these restaurants will ensure that you have a fantastic meal and dining experience as well as the ultimate service. Of course you may be paying a little more for your food but the quality and enjoyment will certainly match.
Heres a quick video of Newcastle itself…
